Leading Suppliers of Liquid Screed in Dorset, Hampshire, and Wiltshire
In recent years, liquid screed has become the construction industry’s go-to material for floor installations. It’s for good reason: from its insulating properties to how easy it is to install, screed is a fantastic option for surfaces of all types.
Of course, like any building material, proper care and maintenance are key to ensuring the longevity of your liquid screed. Following a few simple steps is the best way to keep it in top condition for many years to come.

How to protect your flow-screed floor after installation
- First things first, make sure the floor is completely dry. Most screeds dry in around 48 hours, but quick-drying variants can be ready to walk on in as little as 24. If the screed’s thickness is 50mm or under, we recommend you wait at least 14 days before laying any floor coverings on top of it.
- Once the screed has set, keep all windows and doors open throughout the day so any moisture trapped in the room can escape.
- Don’t be alarmed if any small cracks appear while setting – this is normal. Just brush a handful of cement dust into them.
- Once the screed is dry, cover the floor with a protective material such as a breathable membrane or a heavy-duty floor covering. This will protect the floor from any damage during construction or renovation work. If you need to walk on the flow-screed floor before it’s covered, use protective mats to avoid scratching the surface.
- After 7 days, an underfloor heating (UFH) system can be commissioned. Increase the temperature by a few degrees each day until it reaches its maximum setting, then lower it gradually until the system is turned off. This prevents any damage or stress to the liquid screed.
- Temperature fluctuations can cause the screed to expand or contract, leading to cracks. Avoid this by keeping the room a consistent temperature. This will also help prevent condensation buildup.
- Screed can stain when exposed to certain chemicals or fluids. If you spill anything on the flow-screed floor, clean it up immediately to prevent permanent damage to the surface.
By abiding by these few steps, you’ll end up with a smooth, durable surface that will withstand the test of time.

Key benefits of fast-drying liquid screed
At Eco Screeding, we specialise in the supply and installation of high-quality, fast-drying liquid screed. We’re big believers in the many benefits of fast-drying screed, which include (but aren’t limited to):
- Time saving: The name says it all. Fast-drying screed dries much more quickly than standard screeds, allowing for faster completion and reduced downtime.
- Durability: Fast-drying liquid screed has a higher compressive strength than traditional sand and cement screed, making it better able to withstand heavy foot traffic and mechanical loads.
- Efficiency: Due to its fast-drying properties, liquid screed can be laid in larger areas without the need for expansion joints, which results in a more efficient installation process. There’s also no need to prime before tiling.
- Reduced risk of cracking: Fast-drying liquid screed is less likely to crack or curl because of its low shrinkage properties. This allows for a smoother and more even surface
- No need to sand: Unlike standard screeds, you won’t need to laitance sand down the surface of a fast-drying screed. This translates to even more time and cost savings.
- Thermal conductivity: Liquid screed has excellent thermal conductivity, which makes it an ideal choice for use with underfloor heating systems. Check out the comparison image below to see how much better fast-drying screed is at heating surfaces evenly!
